One of our main goals is to help prepare the children to be ready for the “big leap” to Kindergarten! By helping to prepare the children our Pre-Kindergarten classroom is structured into learning centers such as Science Center, Transportation Center, Writing Center, Dress-up & Dramatic Play and Computer Table are just a few. The children rotate centers during the course of the day, encouraging them to follow directions, socialize with their classmates and create their own learning experience in each center with the materials provided. The children also focus on a letter per week, handing writing with the classroom teacher in their individual notebooks and are asked to participate with a weekly homework writing activity. During the course of each day the children are also given self help skills and encouraged to be their own person and taught to be responsible for themselves, the classroom and each other. Each child is apart of the classroom community. These are all little but effective ways that help each child become ready for Kindergarten.
